In the face of rapid urbanisation and densification, it is important to identify, prioritise and secure land, over time, to enhance environmental viability, sustainability and biodiversity with respect to new and existing developments, particularly with the extreme weather predicted.
The negative impact from disturbance and fragmentation of land is too often overlooked; while retaining viability, sustainability and biodiversity is important, by reconnecting land divided by manmade obstacles like fencing, roads, pipes and structures, throughout the whole Palmiet River Catchment.
